First time making a bone in Leg of Lamb using Anthony Bourdain's Gigot de Sept Heures (Lamb cooked in 7 hours)

This recipe is straightforward, and anyone who follows it can do it.  I had no idea that bone-in leg of lamb could be so easy to make and the presentation could be awe-worthy.  The prep time was fast but you do need to plan for it; it only took me 20 minutes, no overnight marinating necessary; just pop it in the oven at noon, add some rosemary roasted potatoes and veg, and you will have an impressive dinner at 7pm.  I would add extra carrots and onion along with some hot peppers to give it some kick and more garlic and wine to make more sauce for the lamb.  My leg of lamb was about 3 lbs bone-in, and it could feed about 4 hungry adults without leftovers.  I will have to make 2 if I have to serve 10.  Anthony's recipe called for 6 lbs for 8 servings, so it's about right if I add in sides and Veggies.

When you revealed the lamb, it was beautiful.  I was worried it would look brown and blah, but it turned out gorgeous.  Sprinkle some parsley, and it's ready to serve. Open it up tableside in front of the guests to add drama to your dinner, but watch out for the steam. It was super hot, and I did burn my finger.

The lamb was like he described, "so damn tender" a definitely didn't need a knife to cut it.  Spooning some sauce and mixing the roasted garlic, onion, and the sweet carrot chunks on top was the perfect combo.  This will be right up your alley if you love lamb; otherwise, you may find it a bit gamey.  I did wish it would have a little spice to go with it, like some cumin or cayenne pepper.  But like I said, I do like lamb, and I would definitely make it again for an easy dinner for a double date.

My version basically up his recipe a little with extra everything.  For my family dinner, I increase the Wine to 2 cups, I added Rosemary, Cumin and extra carrots to have more sauce and sides for the guests.  I would definitely try this using US lamb and maybe it will be less gamey.  Lamb lovers suggested.
